POLICIES, PROCEDURES, & GUIDELINES:

Before participating, participants should review the SCGA’s Policies & Procedures.

 

FORMAT:

  • 54-hole stroke play championship
  • 84 players will play 18-holes each day on Monday, April 8 & Tuesday, April 9.
  • Cut to the low 30 scores and ties for the final 18-holes on Wednesday, April 10.
  • Awards will be given to those who finish in 1st through 5th place. In the event of a tie for first place, there will be a three-hole aggregate playoff immediately following the conclusion of regular play.
  • This championship is a World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) counting event.

 

EXEMPTIONS AWARDED:

  1. The Champion receives the following:
  • 10-year exemption into the SCGA Mid-Amateur Championship.
  • Exemption into current year California Amateur Championship, SCGA Amateur Championship, & SCGA Match Play Championship.

 

  1. The top-5 and ties receive the following:
  • Exemption into the current year SCGA Amateur Championship.

 

  1. The top-10 and ties receive the following:
  • Exemption into the current year SCGA Senior Amateur Championship. (Age 55 and older)
  • Exemption into the following year SCGA Mid-Amateur Championship.

 

REGISTRATION:

All players are to check in with the SCGA near the Golf Shop to receive their player gift and to acknowledge that they are on the property at the championship.

 

PRACTICE ROUNDS:

  • Players may plan for practice rounds at their own expense. All practice rounds will be booked through the SCGA’s Practice Round Portal beginning on Saturday, March 23 at 8 a.m. PST.  Contestants cannot book a tee time directly through Santa Ana CC, please do not contact them via phone.  All practice rounds will only be accepted via the portal.
  • Practice Round Fee: $100 walk or ride.  Payable in person before your practice round inside the Golf Shop.
  • All contestants will receive one practice round at this fee.

Tues, March 26: 2:24 p.m. & 2:36 p.m.

Wed, March 27: No practice rounds available.

Thurs, March 28: 8:48 a.m., 2:24 p.m. & 2:36 p.m.

Fri, March 29: 3 p.m. & 3:12 p.m.

Sat, March 30: 2 p.m., 2:36 p.m. & 2:48 p.m.

Sun, March 31: 3 p.m. & 3:12 p.m.

Mon, April 1: No practice rounds available.

Tues, April 2: 2 p.m., 2:36 p.m. & 2:48 p.m.

Wed, April 3: 8:36 a.m., 8:48 a.m., 2:24 p.m. & 2:36 pm.

  • Practice rounds are a privilege, not a right. The SCGA works with a variety of facilities throughout the course of the year, all of which have unique policies and procedures when it comes to practice rounds. These opportunities will be provided at the sole discretion of the host facility.
  • We are guests and must follow all facility policies and guidelines when on property. Behavior during practice rounds will be subject to the SCGA Code of Conduct.

 

STARTING TIMES AND PAIRINGS: 

  • Starting times and pairings will be e-mailed to players and posted online at scga.org one week in advance of the championship.   The Mid-Amateur Championship & Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship are being held concurrently at Santa Ana CC.
  • Round 1 starting times will range from Approx. 12 p.m. – 2:10 p.m., utilizing a #1 and #10 tee start.
  • Round 2 starting times will range from 7:30 a.m. – 9:40 a.m., utilizing a #1 and #10 tee start.
  • Round 3 starting times will range from 9:10 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., off #1.
  • Lead groups should plan to be at their assigned tee 10 minutes in advance of their starting time. Subsequent groups are encouraged to arrive once the preceding group has teed off. Players arriving late will be penalized under Rule 5.3a of the Rules of Golf. For example, the 9:00 a.m. starting time is defined as 9:00:00, and players arriving after that time are considered late.

 

TEES & YARDAGE:   

All yardages and course information can be found in the Yardage Information tab located on the Championship Portal.

 

DRIVING RANGE:

  • The driving range will be available by 6:30 a.m. each morning of the championship. 
  • Range balls will be provided compliments of Santa Ana Country Club and the SCGA.

 

FOOD SERVICE & PURCHASES:

  • The Grill and Snack bar will be open at 6:30 a.m. each day.
  • The SCGA will host lunch for all participants on Monday and Tuesday.  Lunch hours are 11:30 a.m. -2:30 p.m.   All participants must visit between these hours to receive complimentary food service, the complimentary food service will not be available outside of these hours.    
  • Caddies and spectators may make purchases from the Grill and Snack Bar.
  • Cash and reciprocal charges will be the only payment accepted for F&B purchases.
  • Credit cards and reciprocal charges will be the only payment accepted in the Golf Shop.

 

RULES OF PLAY:

 

GOLF CARTS, PULL/PUSH CARTS:

  • Golf carts are optional at the player’s expense during the championship ($25 per player); however, players who are able and willing to walk may do so. Only credit card accepted in the golf shop.
  • There will be a maximum of two carts per group and two bags per cart. Players wishing to ride will be expected to share a cart with another player.
  • Each player is entitled to one seat in a cart. If a player brings a caddie, the caddie may ride provided there is a vacant seat in one of the carts. Otherwise, either the player or the caddie must walk.
  • Drivers must be at least 16 years of age (or older if club policy dictates).
  • Pull or push carts are permitted.   Santa Ana has several push carts available for use at no charge.

 

CADDIES & SPECTATORS:

  • Players may provide their own caddie (see the section on golf carts).
  • Spectators are permitted but are not allowed in carts. Spectators must adhere to all policies set forth by the facility.

 

DRESS CODE:

Appropriate golf attire must be worn, including adhering to any facility-specific policies. Please review Santa Ana Policies

 

CANCELATIONS & REFUNDS:

  • To withdraw for any reason before the start of an SCGA competition, a player must notify the SCGA Championships & Golf Operations Department at champs@scga.org.
  • Failure to notify the SCGA will subject the player to suspension from future SCGA competitions.
    • Refund Policy:
      • Cancelation before the entry closing date: Full refund less a $20 administrative fee.
      • Cancelation after the entry closing date and more than 48 hours before the start of the competition: 50% of the entry fee.
      • Cancelation within 48 hours of the start of the competition: No refund.
